

Mary Wansley Solomon, 97 of Tallahassee passed away from this life and into her heavenly home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. She was born in 1927 In Carnesville, Georgia and was one of eight children of McCarter and Lollie Wansley. She attended GSCW and graduated from the University of Georgia where she was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She married E. Ray Solomon in 1953 and was happily married for 65 years until he died in 2019. She enjoyed many hobbies some of which were bridge, reading, sewing, gardening, flower arranging and traveling with Ray and visiting relatives.
She briefly taught home economics at Carrabelle High School and Leon High School and was a substitute teacher at Cobb and Raa Junior High Schools.
She was a member of the CL Chapter of PEO, AGD Alumna Chapter, the Tallahassee Garden Club and Babies Breath Circle. She was a Life member of the Florida Federation of Garden
Clubs and the National Garden Club and recently received the FFGC Pillar of Pride Award. She was a longtime active member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter Susan and grandsons Bruce Wescott and Connor Wansley Patterson. Her son Earl Jr and grandsons M.Ray Solomon (Naomi) and great grandson, Callum and grandson Lukas E. Solomon. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 10:30 am in the Maguire Center at Westminster Oaks.
