Matt is survived by his wife, Shaina Jones Magrone; his son, Matthew Magrone II; his sisters Meredith (Rich) Wiacek, Christine (Anthony) Hevia, and Lauren Festin Kraft.
He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Doris Magrone and his birth mother, Kathy Festin Kraft; his sisters, Rosemarie Magrone and Andrea Liebelt.
Matt was born in Cortland, New York on September 29, 1978. He grew up in Cortland until he was accepted into his beloved boarding school, Phillips Academy (Andover) in Andover, Massachusetts. Matt was a football guy making the varsity team his sophomore (lower) year. He attended Andover all four years making lifelong friendships including his future wife, whom he would marry 22 years later.
After graduating from Andover in 1997, he attended college at St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York, where he was a government major and continued his football career. He pledged Beta Zeta Chapter of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity and assumed leadership roles such as sergeant-at-arms and treasurer.
Following graduation from college in 2001, Matt embarked upon his entrepreneurial journey by co-founding Healthy Lifestyle Marketing during his first year of law school at Pace University in White Plains, New York. Upon catching the entrepreneurial bug, Matt’s love for charting his own course couldn’t be stopped and he left law school after his first year to work on his company full time.
In 2003, Matt moved to Naples, Florida to be closer to his family and he began investing in real estate. Matt’s son was born in 2006 and he moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 2014 to be closer to him. There, he worked at Keiser University as a senior admissions counselor. He lived and worked briefly in Fort Myers, Florida before settling down in Tallahassee.
In May 2019, Matt re-entered the financial and real estate sectors by founding Ocean View Funding Group, a loan servicing company, and co-founding Salem Street Development and Hearsey Enterprises. He had returned to doing what he loved.
On October 27, 2019, Matt married his beloved wife, Shaina, in an intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden in Miami Beach, Florida on one of the happiest days of his life.
Though far too short, Matt had a big life, one that matched his spirit.
At his core, Matt was a big teddy bear, always there to lend a helping hand to everyone who needed it. He was a huge sports fan and a football superfan who always rooted for the New York Giants. He was a comic book afficionado and Batman was his alter ego.
He was a lover of all things Italian, food and gangster movies, alike. He never heard a Sinatra song that he didn’t like and he was a disciple of the Wu-Tang Clan.
He had an amazing sense of humor and a giggle that no one could ever forget. He was the sweetest soul you would ever meet.
And he was, in the truest sense of the words, a good man.
He will be missed dearly by everyone who ever knew him.
The family will be having an intimate memorial service on Saturday, September 26, 2020 in Miami, FL. Condolences may be sent to 721 Indian Creek Court, Naples, FL 34120.
