A life-long native of Tallahassee, Buddy was born to Melvin and Mattie Sims on November 10, 1943. He attended Leon High School and attained a GED from Lively Technical College, then served our country seven years in the Florida Army National Guard.
He began a career with the City of Tallahassee while in high school and retired as a Maintenance Construction Chief after 40 years of service to our community.
Buddy was admired for his easygoing nature, love of life, integrity and loyalty, and cherished his friends and family.
He enjoyed hunting with friends, relatives and many others. He was a pitcher on softball teams and enjoyed deep-sea fishing, cooking, and above all he loved traveling. He also enjoyed meticulously landscaping his property.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert; and sisters, Myrtle Morgan and Mary Henderson. He is survived by his son, David; sister, Shirley Tointigh; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial visitation will be held at 10am August 21, 2023 at Tallahassee Heights Methodist Church, 3004 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, Florida 32308. The memorial service will begin at 11am with Pastor Ken Hamilton presiding.
