Michael Tyrone Herring

We pause to reflect and pay tribute to the life of Michael Tyrone Herring, age 40; born on December 14, 1982, to Jackie and Edna Speights Herring in Landstuhl, Germany. Michael transitioned peacefully on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in Tallahassee, Florida.

Affectionately known as “Big Mike”, Michael was a beloved son, father, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. Michael was the proud father of Tyler Jayden Herring whom he cherished.

A blessing from birth, Michael lit up every room he entered with his bright smile and witty humor. Michael loved family unconditionally and always wanted to ensure the well-being of others. “A loving and caring soul, Michael accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and learned to live a life deserving of his eternal reward which is in heaven. As his faith grew in God, he learned how to trust him and allow God to be his strength and his peace. He would often say “I am just keeping the faith”. He had no doubt in knowing that God was the author and finisher of his faith.

Michael attended Tallahassee Community College where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree and became a Master Electrician, which allowed him to work on many projects throughout his career. His catchphrase, “I’m Aware”; Michael exemplified what it meant to live life in the moment. Michael always enjoyed the challenge of playing video games, skating, swimming, playing basketball, and working out in the gym with his son. He enjoyed eating crawfish and having dinner with his family.

He loved his Mom, who he knew loved him unconditionally. He loved his father, who was always there beside him encouraging him to see that he was doing well. He loved his son, and called it a blessing to see him growing up. Michael was always grateful for the love and support he received from everyone.

Celebrating and cherishing his memories, he is survived by his loving son, Tyler Jayden Herring, parents Jackie and Edna Herring of Tallahassee, Florida. A host of relatives and lifelong friends.
