Mildred (Milly) Marguerite Armstrong, 92, of Pensacola, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Born April 7, 1927, in Sheridan, IN, Milly grew up in the small town of Kirklin, Indiana, where she graduated from Kirklin High School in 1945. Milly continued her education at Indiana University in Bloomington where she met the love of her life, Charles L. Armstrong. He was a returning WWII B-24 pilot who came back to Indiana University and was on the football team. They were married September 7, 1947, and were married for 62 years.

After marrying Charles her world quickly broadened beyond the farm fields of Indiana to the world of Florida State University football and baseball where he coached for several years before being recalled to the USAF. In 1954 the young family of five left Tallahassee to embark on an Air Force adventure that would lead them to El Paso, TX, (where she gave birth to her fourth child), Topeka, KS, Yokota AFB, Japan, and Scott AFB, IL. Milly was a loving and supportive Air Force wife frequently moving and resettling her family in their new adventures. In 1970 Charles retired from the Air Force and moved their family to Quincy, Florida, so he could be near his brother's family since he had just passed away. Milly went from an Air Force wife to a High School Football Coaches wife. She loved her football, following her husband's teams all over North Florida and following Florida State University Football. Milly loved the Lord and served many years as a children's Sunday school teacher. She was always telling her children Bible stories and singing songs. Serving her family and honoring the Lord was the focus and foundations of her life. In 2009, she lost her husband, Charles of 62 years. In 2015, Milly moved to Pensacola, FL to live at Homestead Village on Pine Forest Road.

Mildred was the daughter of the late Roy Basil and Cleo Velma (Shady) Davis. She is survived by her four children: Virginia Zeitler (Jim), Henderson, NV, John Armstrong, Panama City, FL, Charlie Armstrong (Sue), Pensacola, FL, and Melinda Hopf (Mike), Warner Robins, GA ; twelve grand children: Kristin Delap, Matthew Zeitler, Ryan Zeitler (Wendy), Luke Armstrong, Stephen Armstrong, Seth Armstrong (Makayla), Jay Armstrong (Michelle), Alison Mather (Clay), Tom Hopf (Caytlin), Michelle Hopf, Lee Hopf and Bill Hopf and fourteen great- grandchildren: Julianne Delap, Jack Delap, Alyssa Zeitler, Clayton Zeitler, Eli Zeitler, Aaron Zeitler, Brett Zeitler, Elijah Armstrong, Kai Armstrong, Ellen Clark Armstrong, Mary Cole Armstrong, MaryLynn Mather, Denton Mather, and Marvin Hopf. Remember many Davis reunions growing up. Names are all very familiar. Family is whittling down. So glad to have memories of them all. Mom and I see Madge and her kids once a year.
