

Myrtle Coggins, 100, of Tallahassee, was born to James Albert (Jim) Collins and Sara Elizabeth (Bessie) Nowell. She was born in Wayne County, Mississippi on May 20, 1915. She was predeceased in death by her husband Johnie Coggins of 61 years. Myrtle is survived by one son, Jim Coggins (Carolyn) of Tallahassee and one daughter, Gail Smyly (Dr. Dan Smyly) of Peachtree City, GA. Four grandsons, John Coggins of Tallahassee, FL, Blake Smyly (Fiancée Stacy Loera) Atlanta, GA. Brett Smyly, of Peachtree City, GA and Beau Smyly (Charise) of Tallahassee, FL; one step granddaughter, Allison Hartsfield (Dr. Paul Hartsfield); one step grandson, Landon Smith; one great grandson, Gabriel Emanuel Smyly; one great step grandson, Colson Hartsfield and one step great granddaughter, Adley Hartsfield, all of Tallahassee, FL and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by one brother, Lincoln Boyles (Glynn) of Mississippi.
Myrtle was retired from the Supervisor of Elections Office, she was past President of the Tallahassee Police Wives Auxiliary, and she loved cooking, sewing and gardening. Myrtle was an active member of East Hill Baptist Church until ill health interceded. She spent her last nine years at Woodmont Senior Assisted Living facility of which she loved all of the personnel and residents.
Services will be held on Saturday March 5, 2016 at 2:30pm at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee, FL.
Visitation/Reception will be held at 1:00 until service time. There will be a private entombment where she will be place in the mausoleum beside her husband immediately following the service.
