Nan Katherine Buchanan of Tallahassee, FL passed away at the age of 94 on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at her home with her family. Nan was predeceased by her husband Ike Buchanan, brother Robert “Bud” Fair, and sisters Betty Greene and Jane Eckhardt. She is survived by her sisters Sally Fair and Molly Draper; her son Mick Buchanan and his wife Cheryl; her son Pat Buchanan and his wife Dani; her grandson Sean Buchanan, his partner Heather Cleary and their kids Lucas Buchanan, Hailey Cleary, and Blayne Cleary; and her grandson Jay Buchanan and his wife Rachel.
Nan was born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1929 where she learned her love for music and the performing arts. Nan lived a full life filled with adventure and love. In addition to being a musician and an actress, she was also a world traveler, a voracious reader, a devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Those who were lucky enough to know Nan were impacted positively by her can-do spirit and zeal for life. She loved nothing more than to read the newspaper, work on a crossword puzzle, read a good book, watch a good TV show, and plan her next trip around the world.
Nan was the matriarch of the Buchanan family and will be missed greatly. She was a confident, a shoulder to lean on, and always ready with a piece of advice or recommendation for a good movie to watch or book to read. She traveled often around the United States, Canada, Europe, and beyond, enjoying all the world has to offer. While her absence will be felt for years to come, her family is comforted knowing that she has reunited with her beloved “Bushie”, Ike Buchanan, who was the love of her life.
Nan will be celebrated and remembered with a small ceremony for her immediate family.
