Nancy was born on November 16th, 1935, in Lenoir City Tennessee to Dr. James Avery and Sue Jane Leeper. She was the beloved wife of Arvid Nystrom for 51 years. Nancy attended Mary Baldwin College for two years and then graduated from the University of Tennessee. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.
Nancy and Arvid lived in Knoxville for the first 8 years of marriage, then moved to Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky for 5 years, and finally settled in Tallahassee where she found a group of friends that shared her love for Jesus Christ and bible doctrine. This began her lifelong journey of studying the word of God and growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior.
After her children were grown, she began working at My Favorite Things, helping countless brides with their registry. But most of her days were spent in her beautiful gardens, growing vegetables and flowers in abundance.
Nancy is survived by her son, James Leeper Nystrom; her daughters, Sally Nystrom Tutton (husband Scott Tutton), and Molly Nystrom Leake (husband Donelson M Leake Jr.); seven grandchildren, Avery Nystrom Strickland (husband Eric Strickland), Caldwell Nystrom, Taylor, Matt, and Robert Tutton, Trey Leake (wife Kristin Leake), and Abby Leake Sherman (husband Clay Sherman), and three great-grandchildren, Stevie, Donelson, and Lucy Leake.
A memorial service will be held at Tallahassee Bible Church on Tuesday November 8, 2022, at 3pm. A private burial will be held in Lenoir City, Tennessee in December.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Tallahassee Bible Church, 4830 Bradfordville Road, Tallahassee Florida 32312 or the Rick Hughes Evangelistic Ministries, P.O. Box 100, Cropwell, Alabama 35054.
