

She passed away on May 30, 2021. She was the daughter of Elbert and Phyllis McAfee and the wife of Dr. John T. Simpson, Jr. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio March 17, 1933.
While growing up Nancy lived in West Virginia, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Mississippi before settling in Tampa, Florida in 1941. Nancy graduated from H.B. Plant High School in 1950. She attended Florida State University and graduated with a degree in Medical Technology in 1954. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for women. After earning her degree she was employed by Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut, Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida and University Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
While attending F.S.U. she met her future husband, Tommy Simpson. They were married on August 18, 1956 in Stamford, Connecticut. They lived in Gainesville while he attended medical school at the University of Florida College of Medicine. They moved to Jackson, Mississippi while he completed his internship and returned to Gainesville, Florida for his residency. They moved to Tallahassee in 1963 where he set up his medical practice in Pediatrics.
Nancy was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, St. Andrews Society, Violet Garden Circle and the Capital Medical Auxiliary.
Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Elbert and Phyllis McAfee; her husband, John T. Simpson, Jr.; and her son, Thomas Keith Simpson.
Nancy is survived by her daughters, Karen Simpson Noel (Chris) and Meredith Simpson Keen; daughter-in-law, Judith Simpson; grandchildren, Jennifer Noel (Charles), Julianne Noel, Alex Keen, Aiden Keen, Jonathon Simpson (Hunter), Andrew Simpson, and Jeremy Simpson; brother, Tom McAfee and nieces, Laura McAfee Adams and Kristen McAfee Moore; nephews, George Aase (Andreas) and Paul Aase (Jennifer).
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church in Tallahassee.
