
Nicholas H. Brooks passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 63 on December 19, 2014. Nicholas was a loving father, husband, veteran, grandfather, and woodworker. He was born the son of William H. Brooks and Salome Brooks-Thurner on May 23, 1951 in Munich, Germany. Nick was raised in Clarksburg, West Virginia until joining the military and honorably serving his country in the Vietnam War and Korean Conflict. Following his military service, Nick moved to Cutler, Ohio where he married Pamela A. Brooks and raised his son Corey W. Brooks (Amanda). Nicholas worked as a mechanic and electrician for Union Carbide/American Municipal Power of Ohio for over 33 years.
Following retirement, Nicholas moved to Tallahassee, Florida where he married Linda J. Brooks in 2006. Nicholas became the proud step-father of Randy S. Petron II (Melissa), Richardson A. Petron (Gemma), and Robert R. Petron (Nichole). Nicholas enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Madison R. Cecil, Cade W. Brooks, Landon J. Brooks, Quinn N. Brooks, Randy S. Petron, III, Jaylin A. Petron, Lylianna I. Petron, Richardson A. Petron, Jr., and Ryan R. Petron. Nicholas is also survived by his brother Bill C. Brooks (Carmen), sister Debra E. Lorenz (Richard), and sister Diane E. Boggs (John).
Nicholas was an active volunteer for the Big Bend Hospice, the American Cancer Society, a member of the Moose lodge, and attended multiple wood working group gatherings. Nicholas request that in lieu of flowers you make a donation to the Salvation Army, Wounded Warrior Foundation, or your charity of choice.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 22, at 11:00 am at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home 1737 Riggins Rd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
