Patrick Robert Mahoney

Patrick Robert Mahoney, 58, passed away on July 17th, 2026 in Tallahassee Florida surrounded by love and family. Pat was born on June 27th, 1968 in East Islip, New York to James Mahoney and Maureen Ryan (and his 6 rowdy older siblings). Later he was blessed with his step mother Karen and a younger sister.

Pat attended SUNY Brockport where he studied Criminal Justice, but more importantly, where he met Cathy, the person who would become his wife, and never looked back. Pat and Cathy built their lives together in Florida where they had three pretty great children- Erin, Caroline and Kyle. Pat spent over 30 years working with the Florida Department of Corrections, focusing on programming and reentry. He was passionate about providing opportunities for growth and change, and resources for second chances. He retired in October of 2024, but as someone who could never sit still, he became a private consultant continuing to support the expansion of prison programming.

Pat loved golf, the Florida State Seminoles, and (unfortunately) the New York Jets. He loved to be outside, work around the house, and watch videos of animals doing silly things on the internet.

He leaves behind his great love, Cathy Henkel Mahoney; his daughters, Erin and Caroline; his son, Kyle; his beloved granddaughter, Nora; his dogs, Harlee and Louie; his siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and an uncountable number of friends and colleagues.

There will be a visitation at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home on Timberlane Road in Tallahassee, Florida on Wednesday, July 22nd from 5 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
