Patrick Joseph Michalski

Born to James and Geraldine Michalski in Detroit, MI into a loving family of 6 children: Michael (wife, Maureen), Ellen, Gregory, Eugene, and Steven (wife, Jan).

Pat attended Eastern Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelors in Business. He began working at Sears while in college and met his wife, Jean Elizabeth Dechert. They married on May 12, 1979 and moved to Florida shortly after their oldest son, Alexander, was born. After setting up their home in Florida, they enlarged the family with another son, Donald, and a daughter, Katheleen. They lived in Bradenton, FL for 35 years before retiring to Tallahassee to be with their grandchildren, Henry and Marcus, and family. They spent the last 4 years as Pop-Pop and Grammy helping Kathy and Franz raise Henry and Marcus. He instilled in them a love of God and family. He loved being Pop-Pop and playing with the boys every day, never failing to give the best tickles.

He had a soft spot for his fur babies, Stormy, Naomi, and Danka, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were. Ensuring to walk them everyday (rain or shine) and feed them their own eggs in the morning. During his walks he got to know all the neighbors on the street and made many friendships. He was always ready to help anyone when asked. He was an amazing chef and loved treating anyone at the table to an amazing meal.

He was very active in Church, first in Bradenton and then in Tallahassee. In Bradenton they were an integral part of a small home church run by Rusty. In Tallahassee he quickly became a member of North Point Christian church devoting his time serving the church by running the soundboard on rotation. He was passionate about God and leading his family, Jean, Kathy and Franz and grandchildren. In his earlier years his hobbies were fishing(where we knew the fish were not as big as described) and avid tennis player. He played many games of tennis with his good friend Carl.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Geraldine Michalski; his brother, Michael; and his sons, Alexander and Donald. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jean Michalski; his sister, Ellen; his brothers, Gregory, Eugene and Steven Michalski (Jan Michalski); his daughter, Katheleen (Franz Braatz); and his grandsons, Henry and Marcus Braatz. He leaves behind the legacy of a loving son, husband, Dad, Pop-Pop, and faithful servant of the Lord.

The memorial service will be held on September 5th, 2026 from 2pm-4pm at North Point Christian church located at 1506 Bannerman Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312. Food will be provided after.
