May 29, 1943 – June 8, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Patsy Carol Perkins Stokes peacefully entered heaven on June 8, 2024, at the age of 81. Patsy was a devoted Christian woman whose happiness, love, and captivating smile radiated to all who knew her. While Patsy celebrated many accomplishments throughout her life, her most treasured achievement was serving as a constant source of support, wisdom, and abundant love for family and friends.
Patsy married her high school sweetheart, Everett Perkins, at the age of nineteen in Tallahassee, Florida. While devoted to raising their two daughters, active in church ministry and working full-time jobs, they co-founded Perkins Properties, which owned and managed many rental properties. Together, they invested untold hours of “sweat equity,” hard work, dedication, and faith to fulfill their life dreams. Patsy and Everett were married for 35 years prior to his death, after which she continued their legacy of entrepreneurship.
Patsy was a lifelong learner and always stressed the importance of education. She graduated from Florida State University, summa cum laude, with a degree in English and a minor in Spanish. She constantly looked for ways to learn, grow, and teach others. Some of her passions included reading, writing, and speaking Spanish with anyone who could be enticed into conversation. One of the fondest family memories centers on the Christmas stories she wrote each year and read around the Christmas tree. On this and any other occasion, her home was a magical gathering place for her family, including the families of her four siblings.
Patsy remarried in 2001 to Curtis Stokes, who was a loving husband and supportive partner. They enjoyed their life together, filled with family and traveling, as they managed the property business. They were dedicated members of Bradfordville Baptist Church and active in their caring Sunday school class.
In her most recent years, Patsy’s happiest place was at home, rocking on her back porch and enjoying all of God’s creations, from the beautiful flowers to the chirping birds, while visiting with family and friends. The colorful landscape brought her great peace and joy as she reflected on her life’s journey.
There is so much more that could be said, but in the end, Patsy simply made our world a brighter place.
Patsy is survived by her loving daughters, Kim (Richard) Quackenbush and Tara (Don) Loucks; and her cherished granddaughters, Brittney (Scott) Craig, Lacey (Reed) Nelson, and Cayelan (Kevin) Cwirka. She was the proud and doting great-grandmother to Emilyn, Colson, Corbin, Luke, and Brayden, who were truly the lights of her life. She is also survived by her most caring sister, Joy Brady (Richard); brother, T.R. “Buddy” (Judy) McDonald; and sister-in-law, Anita McDaniel. She was loved by many nieces and nephews, all of whom she touched deeply. Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ethel McAlpine; husband, Everett Perkins; husband, Curtis Stokes; brother, Ray McDonald; and sister, Nina Diamond.
Patsy will be remembered for her kind heart, her unwavering faith, and her boundless love for her family. Her legacy will live on through the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren until they meet again in heaven.
The family extends special thanks to Dr. Michael Forsthoefel and his medical staff for the excellent care and compassion shown to Patsy throughout the years. Patsy was blessed with a wonderful care team, including Heather Way and Right at Home.
A celebration of Patsy’s life will be held on Friday, June 14th at 10:00 AM, graveside at the Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home and Memorial Park at 700 Timberlane Road.
