Paul Martel Munger, 69, of Tallahassee, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Paul was the younger of two siblings born to Robert Orin Munger and Mary Evelyn Meador Munger in Louisiana, Missouri.

Paul played the jazz saxophone and was a longtime member of the Tallahassee Swing Band. He loved listening to the Big Band sounds and good ol’ rock ‘n roll. He was an extremely talented carpenter. He built his own house, and he was the set designer and stage and lighting technician for many theaters around Tallahassee, such as Ruby Diamond, Theatre Tallahassee, and the Civic Center. He could work miracles building stage sets. He was also a talented mechanic and did most of the work on the family cars and mechanical equipment.

When not working, he spent his time tinkering in his shop. His next door neighbor said he was the best next door neighbor anyone could ever have.

Paul and Nancy loved to travel. They traveled to nearly all 49 states in their RV, and went across the country several times. They went to Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, Nova Scotia, England, Ireland, Scotland, and recently went on Viking River Cruises on the Rhine, the Danube and on the Yangtze in China. They camped all over with fellow RV campers and had lots of fun geocaching. Paul loved to fish in both fresh and salt water. He seemed to always be smiling – a very cheerful guy. He was everything to Nancy.

Paul is survived by his wife, Nancy, sons David Brian McDaniel of Key Largo and Richard Bryce McDaniel of Tallahassee, and grandchildren Taylor and Kailee McDaniel. He raised Nancy’s two sons as his own. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on Sunday, July 8, at 3:00 PM at Culley’s MeadowWood on Timberlane Road. To respect Paul’s casual nature, please dress casually. Refreshments will be available after the celebration.

Dennis and I thought the world of Paul Munger. We knew him from the Tallahassee Little Theatre (now Theatre Tallahassee) back in the day. He always had a smile for everyone and was so good at everything he did. We had the pleasure of seeing him and Nancy not long ago while we were at some play or musical at Theatre Tallahassee. We hadn't seen him in years, and it was great catching up on all Nancy and Paul's travels. He will be missed.

We are sad to hear of Paul's passing. I personally knew Paul from band at Cocoa High and Merritt Island High. He was ALWAYS a good friend and well liked by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers go to the family.

Paul will be remembered always by the MIHS Class of 1966.
