Perry Reynolds Lawrence went home to be with the Lord he loved and served on Wednesday evening, October 17, 2012. Perry was born on January 18, 1947 in Sopchoppy, FL. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend for 27 years, Susan Orr Lawrence. He is also survived by his brothers Leon (Pat) McKenzie of Tallahassee and Ronald (Arlene) Lawrence of Crossville, TN, and daughters Linda Munroe and Cynthia Hunter of Tallahassee. Grandchildren: Jacqueline Munroe, John Robert Hunter, Elise Munroe, Josh Seymore. Brother-in-law Richard (Cornelia) Washington, DC, Sister-in-laws Nancy Orr, Pensacola, FL and Terri (Ronnie) Flint of Pascagoula, MS
Perry was preceded in death by his parents Theo ( Harrell) and Perry Reynolds Lawrence SR, brothers: Robert and Frank Lawrence and sister Sarah Bowen as well as his beloved basset Molly.
Perry served as a SGT with the Leon County Sheriffs DEPT, Officer with the Wakulla Sheriffs , DEPT, Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee and retired from the Florida DEPT of Insurance as an investigator. His last employment was his most enjoyable as the bus driver for BUS 3031 for Roberts Elementary School.
Perry was an active member of Morningside Baptist Church of Tallahassee FL. Perry and Susan enjoyed working with their preschool class.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Fred and Karen Gilbert and Janice Meyer who maintained a daily contact with Perry and Susan. Thank you to the Physicians and Nurses in the ICU at Capital Regional Medical Center for their care and compassion.
Services will be held on Sunday October 21, 2012, with visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 PM and the service to follow at 3:00PM at Morningside Baptist Church, 1560 Pedrick RD, Tallahassee FL
In lieu of flowers it is the request of the family that memorials may be made to two of Perry’s favorite charities Tallahassee Leon Homeless Shelter and the Lighthouse Childrens Home , Tallahassee FL.
