Ralph Kenneth Nordin

Ralph was born to Kenneth and Nelle Nordin in Screven, Georgia. Ralph moved to Miami, Florida in his youth where he met the love of his life, and high school sweetheart Julia Floyd. They were married for 57 years before her passing in 2019.

Ralph was raised Baptist and remained faithful in his belief as a Christian throughout his life.

Ralph graduated Southwest Miami High School in 1961. Ralph and Julia were married in Miami, Florida on July 6, 1962 and relocated with their two children to Tallahassee in 1968. He worked for the State of Florida as Bureau Chief for the Department of Insurance, retiring in 1991. In 1985, Ralph and Julia opened and operated a very successful business for 30 years, Wood You Furniture of Tallahassee. Many family members worked alongside them, including Kathleen and Floyd, and grandchildren were often found playing in the back of the store until they were old enough to join the staff. Ralph and Julia retired from the business in 2014 to spend time with each other and their family.

Ralph leaves behind his children: daughter Kathleen Nordin Carter and husband, Greg; and son Floyd Kenneth Nordin and wife, Carol. Grandchildren Julia Jones and husband, Chris; Jordan Dobson and husband, Noah; Jarrett Leigh Wood and husband, Mason; Kristen Nordin; and Taylor Nordin. Two Grandchildren by marriage; Jake Carter and wife, Miranda; and Stephanie Ferrer and husband, Max. His brother, Robert “Bobby” Nordin and wife Penny; and sister, Mindy Robinson. Five great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ralph is also survived by his dear friend, Evelyn Meusch. Ralph is preceded in death by his beloved “Bride” Julia; Grandson Nicholas Nordin; Brother Donald Nordin; and his parents.

Ralph will be remembered as a devoted father, loving friend, caring uncle, cherished brother, and by his own proud account the luckiest Granddaddy in the whole world.

A funeral service for Ralph will be held Sunday, August 17, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Immanuel Baptist Church, 2351 Mahan Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
