I  met Dick in 1963. He and I struck it off immediately. We were on the track team and somehow managed to stay out of serious trouble.  Over the years, we were separated by many miles but managed to spend some quality time together. Dick was deeply thoughtful and sharp as a tack. His life was understated and steeped in the simple pleasures. I am so thankful that I had the chance to talk to him prior to the stroke. I think that he knew that his days were numbered. So it is with us all. Miss you deeply old friend. H
