As a teenager, I lived next door to Bob & Mercedes in the mid-late 80’s and also had the pleasure of meeting a large contingent of Mercedes’ family during that time. I’ll never forget the day he placed his pet boa constrictor across my shoulders, changing my opinion (aka fear) of snakes for good. Thank you for that, Bob. Rest in peace.

I knew Robert as my IT person who always fixed my computer.  I loved talking to him about all the places he had lived, worked and been assigned when he was with the RAF.  He always talked about his wonderful family. And Sam, Helen and Mercedes:  I hope you will one day write down and publish the stories he shared about his wonderful life all over the world and with you guys.  The last time I saw Robert, he was with Sam at a book-signing by Tim Dorsey in the Leon County Library.  I spoke with both of them, and Sam told me that although my friend may not remember my name, Robert would know that he knew me.  My heart goes out to you guys and the great loss from this planet. Mercedes, Sam, and Helen,

I cannot tell you how sad I am to learn of Robert's passing.  Having worked with him for so many years, I got to know him pretty well and came to love him dearly.

I will always remember his quick wit, jokes, and stories he told of his past and present, and it will keep a warm place in my heart.

Thinking of all of you and hope that each day brings a little more peace in your lives.
