Robert “Bob” Arden Hugli, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2017. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 17, 1940 to John Hugli, Sr. and Gertrude Millioning Hugli. He was a 1962 graduate of FSU’s College of Business and a proud brother of Sigma Chi fraternity. After college he enrolled in the Coast Guard Reserves. As an FSU alumnus and true tailgater, he enjoyed football, baseball, basketball, and was an avid golf fan. He waited 76 years to see his Chicago Cubs win the World Series; finally, his life of sports is complete.
During his early career in government, Bob worked for Secretary of State and later Lt. Governor, Tom Adams; Governor Rubin Askew and Speaker of the House Donald L. Tucker. He spent the rest of his career as a lobbyist for the Florida Mobile Home Association and the Florida Phosphate Council (Mosaic). Bob was an avid turkey, deer, duck, and quail hunter, and enjoyed sharing memories of fishing for bass at “The Glory Hole” with many of his personal and business friends. Many who enjoyed their good times with “Quail” remember the early years at “The Trailers” and “Stone Crab” dinners.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John, Jr. and sister, Jean George; all of whom he has joined in heaven. Bob leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Yvette Kincaide Hugli; one son, Robert Bryan Hugli and wife Alison of Statesboro, Georgia; one daughter, Katherine Hugli Goletz and husband Shawn of Tallahassee; and two grandchildren, Robert Kenneth Hugli and Meghan Elisabeth Goletz.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home at 700 Timberlane Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Parkinson's Outreach Association, P.O. Box 14722, Tallahassee, FL 32317.
Bob will be missed and our memories and life with him will always make us smile. Thank you, Bob, for blessing us with your life and love.
