Roberta Wallace, 81, was received by her Savior on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital following complications from COVID. Roberta will be missed greatly by her loving family including her two daughters, Terry Lynn Paul (Bobby) and Veronda Renae Wallace; five grandchildren, Amber Davis (Patrick), Mark Gordon (Kirstie), Kayla Gordon, Trevor Wallace and Trenton Wallace; and five great-grandchildren, Gage, Shelby, Khloe, Adrian and Brenna all of Crawfordville and Tallahassee. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart of 56 years, Curtis Wallace.
Roberta was raised in Honaker, Virginia, the daughter of Abram and Sally Ray, Roberta was a long-term resident of Tallahassee, Florida. After graduating from Honaker High School in 1957, Roberta aspired to become a registered nurse. While studying nursing and working in a resident home for in-patient care, Roberta was set-up on a blind date with a handsome young man named Curtis. The rest, as they say, is history. They were married in 1960. In 1963, they moved their family to Jacksonville and in 1970 a job change brought the family to Tallahassee where Roberta was a stay-at-home mom who hand tooled jewelry. She later worked for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, the Florida Department of Commerce and finally retired from the Department of Business and Professional Regulations in 2004.
Roberta was a member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed the fellowship of other church members and cherished the relationships she made there.
The family will receive friends on Friday, August, 20, 2021 beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by a celebration of Roberta’s life at 11:00 a.m. at Thomasville Road Baptist Church, 3131 Thomasville Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
