Roger John Dill passed away on September 4, 2023 at Margaret Dozier Hospice House. He was born on September 11, 1948 in Westbury, New York to Joseph and Ellen Dill. Roger contracted polio as a toddler, and this resulted in a lifelong inability to walk without a brace and crutches and in later life a wheelchair. Not letting this stop him, he was a single parent after the loss of his wife. He enjoyed a simple life that included taking care of his daughter, cooking, reading, especially about WWII, and eventually sewing on his new computerized sewing machine. He loved a good debate. A special passion was playing pool, even becoming quite good and winning some trophies along the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife Teresa, his parents, and a brother Joseph Dill. He is survived by his daughter Laura Castano and her husband David Castano, and his three special grandchildren: Gabriel, Nathan and Teresa. Other survivors include a brother Paul Dill (Margaret) and sisters Joanne and Susan (Larry) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee.
He was a good son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle – we will all miss you Roger.
