

Roger Allan Wilburn, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was born in Bartow, Florida and grew up in Miami. Roger attended Florida International University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. He earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University. Roger worked for the State of Florida in land use planning for most of his career, retiring in 2015.
Roger was an avid outdoorsman and always up for new adventures. His passions included family and friend gatherings, travel, camping, hiking, fishing, bird watching, paddling, hunting, bicycling, scuba diving, golf, softball, motorcycling and cooking. He loved sharing his passions and collected enough gear for everyone. Roger was a wonderful husband, step father, brother, uncle and friend.
Roger was predeceased by his beloved parents Donald and Martha Ann Wilburn, his brother Russell Wilburn, and his grand nephew, Brandon Brown.
Roger is survived by his wife, Beverly Wilburn, step children, Lisa Mangels (Alan) and Ross Friedberg, and a sister, Patty Tabet (Leo). Roger also loved his nieces, nephew, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
A memorial service will be held in honor of Roger Allan Wilburn at The Lodge at Wakulla Springs on July 9th at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Big Bend Hospice.
