It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald (Ron) Lee Beck, a devoted husband, father, and friend, who left us on October 5, 2024 at the age of 85. Ron passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication that will forever be cherished.
Born on September 4, 1939 in Newport, KY and raised in Clinton, KY, Ron lived a full and remarkable life. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, where he spent years honing his skills and cultivating a deep sense of duty and discipline. After his military service, Ron pursued a diverse and dynamic career. He operated several textile businesses in various locations around the world, worked at the Miami International Airport with Homeland Security and was involved in many special projects with the government. His professional journey was as varied and extraordinary as the man himself.
Beyond his career, Ron will be remembered for his genuine warmth and compassion. He was one of the coolest guys around, always quick with a smile and a kind word for anyone he met. He had an incredible ability to make others feel valued and respected, a trait that earned him many friends over the years. His love for people, his unwavering support for his family, and his selflessness will always be remembered by those who knew him.
Ron loved the simple joys in life. He spent his weekends enjoying football games with a cold beer in hand, always rooting for his favorite teams (Pittsburgh Steelers, Florida State University, Navy, and University of Kentucky). He had a passion for fishing and spent many peaceful hours on a boat, at a tiki hut, by the pool, or at the beach. Some of his fondest memories were from the many years he lived in Jamaica, where he immersed himself in the island’s rich culture.
More than anything, Ron was a family man. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Arlene Beck, and his five sons: David Beck (Lauren); James Beck; Justin Beck; John Beck (Christi); and Jason Beck (Jennifer). He also leaves behind four grandchildren (Lauren, Maxwell, Lydia, and Carter), as well as many extended family members and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
Over the years, Ron and his family were also blessed with various pets, further reflecting his nurturing and caring nature. His home was always a place of warmth, love, and companionship.
Ron lived his life with a deep commitment to his loved ones, always putting his family first and supporting them with boundless love and dedication. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Rest in peace, Ron. You touched many lives, and your legacy of love and kindness will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ron’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project and the Alzheimer’s Association.
