
Ronald J. Levy died on March 30, 2018 at age 86 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, David B. Levy and Lillian Weinstein Levy, and his sister, Marilyn Levy Planer. He is survived by two nieces, Marcy Planer and Diane P. Lovejoy, a nephew, Matthew Planer and four great nephews, Joshua Murray, Samuel Murray, Benjamin Planer and Jacob Planer, as well as many cousins and friends.
A devoted son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. Ronnie was born March 19, 1932 in New Orleans and grew up uptown, attending Touro Synagogue. He graduated from Fortier High School and received a Bachelors in Business Administration degree from Tulane University. At Tulane, he received the Wall Street Journal Student Award in Finance and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.
Ronnie enjoyed a successful career in the field of investment banking, specializing in municipal bonds. He worked the majority of his career for Hattier, Sanford & Reynoir, a New Orleans investment banking firm. He relocated to Tallahassee after he was displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
His attention to detail helped him tremendously in his career, as did his keen knack for business, sense of humor and generous spirit. Ronnie was a car enthusiast and in his free time, he enjoyed driving his Corvette. He also loved classic cars, and was known to bring his 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix to car shows, where he won many awards.
