Rose Marie Mayhew Harvey passed from this life on May 30, 2021 at Big Bend Hospice. Rose was born on August 25, 1926 in Tallahassee, Florida. She attended Leon High School, Florida State College for Women and was in the first FSU graduating class in 1948.
She worked for the State of Florida as a secretary for the Dept. of Education, Dept. of Natural Resources, and Dept of Environmental Regulations, retiring after 35 years. Rose was a member of the Poinsettia Garden Circle, the Tallahassee Daylily Society, and the St. Catherine Circle of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Judith (Judy) Marie Harvey, her cousin Nancy (Ed) Rooney and family, and niece Jane (Steve) Holcomb. She was predeceased by her husband, George Harvey; her parents William and Selina (Lovey) Mayhew; and her sister, Dorothy (Dot) M. Ryan.
A memorial service for Rose will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home – Timberlane Road Chapel. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery. Masks are optional.
