Ruby Langston Burch, 92, died Wednesday (7/15/2015) in Wewoka, OK in the care of Faith Hospice. Ruby was born on June 14, 1923, to Lona and Raney Langston of Smith Creek, FL, one of four children. She graduated from Sopchoppy High School in 1942, and then attended Massey Business School in Jacksonville.
Ruby was preceded in death by husbands: Oscar Cullifer (1952) and Alvin Clayton (1971); her mother and father Lona and Raney Langston; sisters: Alice Langston, Helen Langston Stephens; and brother: Mabry Langston. Survivors include son and his spouse: Mikell and Kathy Clayton of Wewoka, OK, grandchildren: Justin and Krystle Yagi of Loveland, CO, Steven Clayton and Seunghee of Incheon, South Korea, and Daniel Clayton of Wewoka, OK. Ruby had one great-grandson: Chase Yagi of Loveland, CO; a niece Ann Stephens Maudlin (Robert) of Jacksonville, FL and nephew Garon Stephens.
Ruby first married Oscar Cullifer in 1945, making their home in Tallahassee. Oscar died suddenly in 1952 in a plane crash. Ruby remained in Tallahassee, employed for 11 years by the Florida Industrial Commission. She married a second husband, Alvin Clayton in 1957 and moved to Jacksonville, FL, where her only child, Mikell, was born in 1958. Alvin passed away in 1971. Ruby was married a third time to Arnold Burch in 1972 where they lived in Jacksonville. She retired from the insurance business in 1986.
First Baptist Church was her church home in Tallahassee. She also attended Avondale Baptist Church and Lakeshore Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
