ATC (retired) Russell L Walsh passed away peacefully on March 22, 2023, surrounded by his family. Russ served in the US Navy for 22 years and was a Vietnam veteran and a life member of the VP-2 Association. Prior to joining the Navy, he was an engine builder/mechanic for Ralph Stark racing where it was said he “could make a flathead Ford motor sing!”
Russ was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Stevens and father Arthur Walsh, and sisters Betty Martin and Anne Scruggs (Stephen). He leaves behind his wife of 62 years Peggy, daughter Laurie Mihal (Joseph), sons James (Sabine) and Michael (Rebecca), Kathy Smersh (Greg), Patrick Sweeney (Cheryl), Michael Sweeney (Jena), sisters Mary Emma Nidifer (Ken), Catherine Butman (Terry), Alice Smith, numerous grand- and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Russ’ memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
