Ruth Evelyn Ahrens

Ruth Evelyn Ahrens (Innes), 92, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida. Born on June 21, 1934, in Oak Park, Illinois, Ruth lived a long and fulfilling life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and passions.

Throughout her life, Ruth carried a deep appreciation for her family's history and took great pride in researching the genealogy of the Innes clan, a hobby that connected her to her heritage and brought her immense joy.

Ruth retired from Sperry after working years of hard work and commitment. Her retirement allowed her to focus on the activities she loved most. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, reading, solving crossword puzzles, playing bingo, delving into geological research and most of all walking outdoors. Ruth found happiness in life's simple pleasures.

Her faith was the foundation of her life. As a faithful member of East Hill Baptist Church, she found strength, fellowship, and purpose in her church family.

More than anything else, Ruth loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend whose quiet strength, gentle heart, and steadfast love touched the lives of those around her. She celebrated life's joys with her family and carried its sorrows with grace.

Ruth is survived by her two beloved sons, Gerald Paul (Annette) and Frank Roger Ahrens; her five grandsons, Jonathan Paul (Laura), Joseph Walter Jr., Michael Peter, Paul Frances (Katie), and Thomas Edward II Ahrens; her six great-grandchildren, Bodhi, Chris, Elizabeth, Ford, Lillian, and Wally Ahrens; and her siblings Holly Bobe Erker and Peter Bobe. She also leaves behind cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by three of her beloved sons, Thomas Edward, Karl Fredrick, and Joseph Walter Ahrens; her parents, Fredrick Albert Innes and Ruth Evelyn Raschke Innes Bobe; and her brother, Fredrick Long Innes II. Though their loss brought sorrow during her lifetime, Ruth carried their memories with love.

Ruth’s legacy is one of resilience, faithfulness and love for family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. EDT at the Jamestown Woods Clubhouse, 3150 Windsong Drive, Tallahassee, Florida.
