

Samuel Rufus Kirkland, Sr. born April 9, 1947 lost his courageous battle with cancer and left his earthly body to be with his Lord and Savior on November 4, 2016. Sam was a Vietnam Vet and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Sam married the love of his life, Joyce Morgan, in 1972 and spent their remaining lives together operating Furniture Wizard. Sam will be missed greatly for his ability to bring new life to old furniture, his gift of gab and his ability to literally talk your ear off.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Joyce Morgan Kirkland; sons, Michael Gibson, Sammy Kirkland Jr. (Tammy) all of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Savannah and Paige Gibson, Jonathan, Joey and Jenny Adkison; great-granddaughter, Madilynn Adkison; mother, Annie Baggett of Monticello; sisters, Joyce Syfrett (Wesley) of Chipley, Lois Wood (John) of Tallahassee; brother, Roy Kirkland of Lake City; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, William Rufus Kirkland.
A celebration of Sam’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 8 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at 2700 Williams Rd. The viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 9, at 11:00 am followed by the service at noon at Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene. Graveside services at the Tallahassee National Cemetery will immediately follow the church service. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Children’s Department at the Tallahassee First Church of the Nazarene will be appreciated.
