Sandee was born on October 3rd, 1945, daughter to Andrew and Lottie Wolak. She grew up in Cicero, Illinois where she met the love of her life, Harry Pawelczyk. They began dating when Sandee was 16 and Harry was 14 and married eight years later, on March 8th, 1969, at St. Mary’s of Czestochowa church in Cicero.
Harry’s work with the US Forest Service gave her the opportunity to live in some of the most beautiful National Forests across the USA – in Ontonagon Michigan, Morehead Kentucky, and Wiggins Mississippi – before moving to Elkins, West Virginia in 1987.
Here, Sandee spent the majority of her career working for the Randolph County Clerk’s Office, ultimately serving as County Clerk.
Her proudest achievement, however, was her family. When asked how she wanted to be remembered, Sandee said, “As a happy soul, who loved her family to death.”
Sandee is survived by: her son Blair Pawelczyk, wife Christine, and grandson Lucas, of Tallahassee, FL; her son Kyle Pawelczyk, wife Anna, and grandchildren Harrison and Haylee, of Tallahassee, FL; and her daughter Manda Pawelczyk and partner Finn Jackson of Blewbury, England. Sandee was the most patient, loving, and supportive mother and grandmother and is already missed immensely.
Preceding Sandee in death are her parents, her husband, and her brother, Donald Wolak.
Sandee’s request for cremation will be honored, with no funeral service or public visitation. Memorial contributions can be made in Sandee’s memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
