Born on February 24, 1963, Sharon lived a life centered around the people she loved most. She was nurturing, giving, and supportive, and her greatest joy was her family.
For 44 years, Sharon shared her life with her husband, William “Bill” Neal III. Together they built a family and a lifetime worth of cherished memories that include beach trips, boating, fishing, concerts, and FSU football games. Sharon was a loving wife and devoted mother to Sarah Ashcroft (Jeff). She supported her daughter wholeheartedly and made countless sacrifices to ensure all her dreams were within reach. She especially enjoyed spoiling her corgi, Cooper Jack.
Her love for her family continued into the next generation. Sharon cherished her grandsons, Grady and Griffin, and loved being part of their lives by attending school events and baseball and football games, and created lasting memories whenever they were together. She made each of them feel deeply loved and uniquely special by making sure each had one-on-one time with her and Bill.
Throughout her life, Sharon served others in a number of ways. As a Sunday school teacher, she gave children their first glimpse into what following Jesus means. As a devoted daughter, she spent her time assisting her mother with her catering business from cooking and baking to setting up and serving. She traveled throughout the southeast to support her daughter’s competitive gymnastics career and made even the most mundane trips exciting. Her commitment to her daughter’s gymnastics teams, and later cheerleading squads, extended to the booster clubs where she served in a number of rolls, most notably as president where she led a series of fundraising efforts. She was known for always going above and beyond for her family and friends, setting a great example of what it means to love unconditionally.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Bill; her daughter, Sarah (husband, Jeff Ashcroft); grandsons, Grady (8) and Griffin (6); mother, Barbara Maxwell; stepmother, Laverne “Tibby” Johnson; sister, Renee Johnson, brother Lee Minor (wife Deirdre); mother-in-law, Charlotte Neal; and sisters-in-law, Stacy (husband, Mark Jakelsky, daughter, Victoria) and Sandy (husband, Frank Gorski, son, Drew).
She was preceded in death by her father, E. N. “Buddy” Johnson; stepfather, Tom Maxwell; sister, Marjorie; father-in-law, William “Bill” Neal Jr; and maternal and paternal grandparents.
