Shirley Marie Edson

Shirley Marie (Massey) Edson, 82, of Tallahassee, peacefully passed away on Friday, July 11, at her home. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Shirley came to Tallahassee in 1974 from Chicago, Illinois. She was a graduate of Florida State University and worked as a Dental Hygiene and Technology Faculty Member at the Tallahassee Community College (now Tallahassee State College) from 1977 until retirement in 2006 (29 years). She had been a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and enjoyed many outdoor activities such as boating, running, and traveling, and she had an active social life until recent years. Survivors include her son Spence Ebeling and his wife Kellie, grandchildren Spencer, Megan, and Kara, and great-granddaughter Lily; her daughter Kristy and her husband John Newland and grandchildren Matthew and Elizabeth; and her daughter Tracey and her husband Jon Taylor and grandchildren Colton and Drew.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 26, at 10:30 am at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home located at 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee. Graveside services will be held shortly after at MeadowWood Memorial Park, Tallahassee. For those who wish, the family suggests memorial donations to the Leon County Humane Society (leoncountyhumane.org) in lieu of flowers.
