Sid was born on February 3, 1939 in Rockhouse, KY to parents, Thelma and Ray. He grew up in Oakwood, VA and attended Garden High School where he met his future wife, Patsy Osborne. Sid graduated from high school in 1958 and enlisted in the Army soon after. Sid and Patsy were married on March 7, 1959 in Lebanon, VA.
Sid would spend the next 28 years serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was assigned to posts all around the world, logged over 500 static-line jumps and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class before commissioning through OCS and retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Sid served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters and a “V” device for valor during his time in Vietnam. After retiring, Sid and Patsy settled in the Callaway area of Florida where he started Bargain Sanitation, a successful garbage company that is still in operation today.
Sid loved his dogs, Westerns, long road trips, taking his grandchildren to the beach, and rooting against FSU football.
He is preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters: Dennis (Buz) Lundy, Junior Ratliff, Jent Ratliff, Pete Lundy, Imal Chesser, Peggy Ganzeveld, Beth Wade, and Judy Hunter.
He is survived by two brothers: Bannon Lundy and Larry Engardio.
He is also survived by his wife of 59 years, Patsy, children Steven, Cherie, and Patrick, grandchildren Sidney Boone, Lisa, Heyward, Harley, and Zach, great-grandchildren Emma, Adalynn, Jake, Ryker, and Evie.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, December 12 at 1pm at the Tallahassee National Cemetery.
