Silas S. Eubanks of Tallahassee, Fl., passed away at the age of 97 at Big Bend Hospice on February 17, 2017 in Tallahassee. He was born in Bristol, Fl. on April 12, 1920 to the late Bertus and Birdie Eubanks. Mr. Eubanks served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II in the European Theatre and later served stateside during the Korean conflict. After his military service, he was employed until retirement as a forester with the St. Joe Paper Company. During the last eight years of his life, he was lovingly cared for by Pauline Driggers, C.N.A.
Mr. Eubanks was preceded in death by his wife, Florence B. Eubanks, in 1994; and later, by brothers Paul J. Eubanks and James Wilhoite Eubanks; one sister, Dessie Marr; sisters-in-law, Iris Eubanks and Rowena Eubanks; and brothers-in-law Bill Marr, Cephus Traylor, and Royce Traylor. He is survived by one son, Silas R. Eubanks; one brother, Johnny B. Eubanks; and two sisters, Doris Traylor and Betty Traylor as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday, February 20, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 700 Timberlane Rd., Tallahassee. There will be a private family only graveside service at 4:00 PM.
