

Stephen Noble Roberts [Steve], 66, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on February 26, 2014, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral service will be held at Culley's Meadow Wood Funeral Home, Timberlane Chapel. Burial will follow at Culley's Meadow Wood Memorial Park, 700 Timberlane Road, Tallahassee. Visitation will be held Saturday from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.Steve was born in Atlanta, Georgia to Eugene and Johnnie Roberts on June 29, 1947. He graduated from Georgia Tech Institute of Technology in 1970 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Steve started his career as a banker in Atlanta, eventually moving to Tallahassee to head the Florida Division of Anchor Savings Bank.When asked to move to New York, he decided that Tallahassee was a better fit so he started his second successful career as a partner in Daws-Roberts General Contracting. Steve was also a Major in the United States Army. When not working, Steve was an avid Porsche car enthusiast, and enjoyed club racing on weekends, an activity he enjoyed sharing with Zack.He was a baseball fan and enjoyed playing adult league baseball with Zack and Nick. Summers were spent on the lake, boating and skiing with family and friends, playing with his much loved dogs, Fuzz, Charlie and Lacie, or riding his Harley. Steve is survived by his wife Cyndi of Tallahassee, children, Brian Roberts [Nikki] of Senoia, Georgia, Jennifer Hergesell [Bryan] of Newnan, Georgia, Zack Roberts of Tallahassee, Florida and Nick Roberts of Tallahassee, Florida.Grandchildren, Peyton and John of Senoia, Georgia, Tyler and Lucas of Newnan, Georgia and a nephew and niece, John and Julie of Cartersville, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Johnnie, brother Don and his beloved dog Gracie. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the wonderful nurses in the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Neuro Intensive Care unit for their loving care of Steve during his illness. Also to the caring staff at Big Bend Hospice for helping them through this most difficult time.
