Vernelle M. Tucker died on Jan. 14, 2014 in Tallahassee, FL. at the age of 94. She was born in Simmonsville, MS Nov. 4, 1919. She was the youngest of seven children. She moved to Tallahassee in 1927. She was a longtime resident at Westminster Oaks.Mrs. Tucker retired as the Assistant General Manager at the Tallahassee Democrat where she worked for thirty-two years. She enjoyed painting and ceramics in her retirement. She loved to shop. She was a charter member of Lafayette Presbyterian Church. She was a current member of First Baptist Church of Tallahassee. She is predeceased by her husband of forty-seven years, Raymond A. Tucker, Sr. She is survived by hers two sons Raymond A. Tucker, Jr (Peggy Lentz) and W. Allan Tucker (Rita), a granddaughter Katlyn Hoffman of Eugene, OR., a grandson Raymond A. "Tres" Tucker, III of Florence, OR., five great-grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews.Visitation will be held at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Riggins Road Chapel on Friday January 17, 2014 from 6:00pm-8:00pm, with Graveside Services 11:00am the following day along with a Memorial Service at 2:00pm to be held at Westminster Oaks.
