Vincent Michael DelMarco, 90, passed away on March 31, 2020 in his home with his wife and daughter at his side, under the compassionate care of Big Bend Hospice. He was born on October 31, 1929 in Tarrytown, New York, to Pasquale DelMarco and Mary Negri.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the Navy, active duty, on the aircraft carrier the USS Leyte. He worked for the air freight company Flying Tigers as a Director of International Sales, and was dearly loved and respected by his colleagues. Upon retiring, he became a Guardian ad Litem, advocating for children in need; fostered animals; and volunteered at the local homeless shelter on a weekly basis with his wife. He was an avid golfer and was known for hitting a long straight ball. He loved his dog Moosie, adopted from the shelter, and given to him by his wife on his 75th birthday.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Ann DelMarco, and Angela Ucci; his brother, Nicholas Lolla, and his niece, Donna Scimia. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Celeste; son, Stephen (Laura); granddaughter Allison; son, David; and daughter, Christina (Terri); grandson, Jackson; sister, Josephine; brother, Joseph ; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members.
Vincent was a kind, compassionate, gentle, deeply loved person, a friend to many. He never met a stranger, and had the ability to genuinely connect with anyone, no matter how different. His warmth, compassion, kindness, charitable nature, and profound generosity to, and for, people and animals was deeply inspiring. He was a loving husband and father and was profoundly loved by his wife and children. His ever-present humor, wisdom, compassion and warmth left an indelible impression on all who crossed his path. He will be deeply loved and missed, forever.
Burial will be in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Tarrytown, New York, where he started life with his wife, Celeste, 63 years ago.
