Violet D. (Vi) Cupp, 87, a long-term resident of Ft. Lauderdale, passed away on Nov 13 in Tallahassee, where she resided since 2001.

Vi was born and raised in Marianna, FL before moving to Ft Lauderdale shortly after graduating from high school in 1951. She became employed at Broward National Bank as a teller, and quickly advanced to head bookkeeper at Sun Bank of Lauderdale-By-The Sea, then manager of a tri-bank operations center. She later became manager of Sun Bank of Wilton Manors before being named the first female Vice President in the bank’s history.

Vi retired in 1991, then returned to the merged SunTrust Bank in human resources where she hired, trained and developed personnel. Vi was truly a trailblazer in the 1960’s and 70’s, mentoring many females while focusing on providing her clientele with exceptional, personalized customer service. After moving to Tallahassee, she enjoyed working part-time at The Tallahassee Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Vi enjoyed entertaining, traveling and spending quality time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Maggie Ingram of Marianna; sisters, Georgia Fussell and Emily (Jean) Hill; and brother, Osie Ingram.

Vi is survived by her husband of 67 years, Daniel Cupp; sister, Magdalene (David) Sarvis of Lake Wales; daughters, Vicki Cupp of Tallahassee and Dana (Wendell) Early of Loganville, GA; grandchildren, Danny (Leslie) Cowan of Snellville, GA and Kelci (Sean) Murphy of Port St. Lucie; great-grandchildren, Claire, Lucas, Jackson, Kendall, Liam, and Rori; and numerous nieces, nephews, and “adopted” children whom she dearly loved.

Services will be held Wednesday under the direction of Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee. For details go to www.culleysmeadowwoodfuneral.com.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Big Bend or the Together Through the Storm Fund of Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, Tallahassee (goodsamtally.org).

My memories of Mrs. Cupp are very recent. Although I only knew her for a brief time, she touched my heart every time I saw her. The caladiums Mr. Cupp gave me will always remind me of her...Our little visits on a daily basis will always stay true in my heart!! She is missed dearly...

I am not related but have always thought of Vi and Danny as Aunt Vi and Uncle Danny. She was the Aunt of my good friend, Charlie Hill. She was a beautiful soul inside and out. Very gracious, energetic, and lots of fun. She will be missed by so many. It was an honor to know her even for a brief time. My heart and prayers go to her family. With love, Cinda

My Son Jackson and I were privileged to get the opportunity to meet Mrs. Cupp just once but, in that one brief encounter, we saw her spirit of love, laughter, and hospitality. Jackson and I will always remember her sweet smile and welcoming personality and her delicious Key Lime Pie. Prayers to all of you!

Not many former son-in-laws have nice things to say about their former mother-in-laws. I'm the exception. Vi was truly one of a kind. She was smart, kind, and tolerant. She was clearly a glass-half-full person. She knew how to listen. She knew how to comfort. She knew when to discipline. She knew when to praise. She was loyal. Her family meant everything to her, and she was the matriarch. Those she knew were blessed by her friendship. She was the grandmother of my children and the great-grandmother of my grandchildren. I was proud to call her, "Mom."

In all my life, I have never met a more loving, caring, giving soul than Vi Cupp. Mom, you will live forever in our hearts...

Aunt Vi was so loved by us. She was certainly Marcus’s second Mother. She helped raised him since a young boy. I fell in love with her the day I met her 34 years ago! She was always loving us & accepting of us as we were.
I heard it said”that you don’t loose a loved one, when you know where they’re going”!
So Aunt Vi, we love you & know jumping around Heaven with all your loved ones that went before you. We know you’ll meet us at Heaven’s Gates one day. Love you Lots!! Mark & Louise

So many wonderful memories of my 2nd Mom. She was full of energy & love. I remember all the fun times of our families playing, singing, eating together. I remember how much she cared for me & my family over 60 years. This year she & Dan called and wished me Happy Birthday. around 11:30 PM. They were both giggling about how they just got out of the movies at their in-house theater. Her love and zest for life was amazing. I will miss her, but look forward to our reunion day! Praising Jesus for placing such a wonderful woman of God in my family's life.
