Virginia Rose Chase peacefully passed away in her home on January 12, 2021 at the age of 95. She was a native of Minneapolis, MN where she attended the College of St. Catherine until her senior year in 1946 when she married Jim, the love of her life. In 1951 they moved to Tallahassee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Chase; sons, Michael J. Chase, Patrick J. Chase, Sr.; grandson, Patrick J. Chase, Jr.; granddaughter, Laura; brother, Richard Klein; sisters, Jean Werner, Blanche Lohmar and Marilyn Leitschuh; and parents, August and Florence Klein. She is survived by her sisters, Suzanne Coyne (John) and Karen Klein; brother, Chris Klein (Jeanne); sons, Daniel J. Chase (Sandra) and Steven P. Chase (Kaye); daughters, Claudia Nijem (Richard, deceased), Susan Chase (dear friend, Ray Wood) and Mary Lackey (Jerry); grandchildren, April Scruggs (Ferrell), Tommy Nijem, Alyson Lerstang (Kim), Niki Oliver (Jack), Ryan Chase (Katy), Stephanie Jones (Travis), Travis Lackey, Chase Lackey, and Michele Chase; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Virginia (Rosie) had a love of many things. Her faith and family were paramount. She was a faithful member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she was involved in many church groups and activities through the years. There she made lifelong friends with whom she shared her most important words of wisdom, "Give it up to God". Rosie was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, card games and the Florida State Seminoles. Whenever there was a Seminole football, baseball or other sports being played, you could hear her bellow the "war chant" from her big recliner in the living room. She was an enthusiastic fan for many years.

She was deeply loved by her family and will be missed by so many. Our special thanks to Sheryl Burgess and her staff for taking such great care of Rosie.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 2:15pm at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass beginning at 3pm. The family would like to remind guests that masks are required for those who attend in person. For those who are unable to attend the Mass will be livestreamed at

Rosie was my aunt and mom's oldest sister. My mom loved visiting her in Florida but it became more difficult as her and my dad got older as she cared for my dad.

She died exactly three years to the day after my dad. She has lots of people to welcome her into Heaven.

I corresponded with Rosie after my mom died and glad I was able to send her a package with one of my mom's wash cloths and funeral programs. I told her about the Florida college t-shirt she bought for my mom many years back that my husband Mark (HS football coach) now wears. She loved those Seimonles.

My sister Mary Lou and I were together on Saturday and we watched via LiveStream the funeral. It was nice to hear such nice things about Rosie from our cousins and second cousins. It was also good to see Claudia and Mary - whom we have not seen in many, many years.

Sending along deepest sympathy on your loss - Rosie was always such a sweet woman. I know how difficult it is to lose your mom.

Mrs Chase was the type lady everyone should have as a mom. Many times, all the friends of her children would just show up and were always welcome by Rosie and Jim. Lots of fried bologna and milk and she was always, a lady.
Our deepest sympathy to all, but we know that Rosie and Jim are dancing in the GRAND ballroom in heaven

Our mother was one of a kind, having
6 children in 7 years taking care of all of us and our numerous friends. She was always available to help us and made anyone who visited feel like family . She was my best friend, loved to shop and attend water
Aerobics. An avid reader and crossword puzzle queen .
She will be missed by many and we all feel so very blessed and lucky to have her as our Mother, Rest In Peace and give Dad a big hug from us
LOVE YOU......

What a gorgeous picture of a beautiful lady! I will always remember our family visit to Aunt Rosie and Uncle Jim’s big home in Florida when I was a pre-teen. She has always been so welcoming. I loved getting her Christmas cards always with a little personal note.
I know she will be missed!
