Virginia Foy Chance Dowdy (Granny), born on, February 5, 1933 (87) in Millen, Georgia; of Tallahassee, passed away on July 1, 2020. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Rudolph Dowdy (Pepa) of 65 years and Great grandson, Mathis Lewis.
She is survived by son, H. Richard Dowdy (Teresa); daughter Amy D. McClellan (Jeff); Grandchildren, Kristin Anderson (Jeff), Jennifer Lewis (Jason); Ashley Newtson (Cody), Joshua McClellan (Kayla); and Great Grandchildren, Elyse Anderson, Chance Anderson, Lyla Anderson, Samuel Lewis, Connor Newtson and Grayden McClellan (Due in August), Sister-in-law, Mary Jo Miller of Foxfire, N.C., numerous Nieces and Nephews and beloved dog Walton.
Virginia was a homemaker and retired AFLAC Agent. She loved FSU and Georgia Football. She loved her Dopey collections, playing games, travel, and dancing. Her favorite color was yellow. Granny was most appreciative of her life long true and faithful friends.
A special appreciation to all the medical staff at Tallahassee Cancer Center, the outstanding staff at Cherry Laurel, and most of all the staff at Hospice.
The Celebration of Virginia’s Life will be held at Culley’s MeadowWood, 1737 Riggins Rd, on Thursday, July 9th, 2020, between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM. Masks are necessary due to the Leon County mandate.
