Wayne Delia, 74, passed away on Wednesday, July 8th in Tallahassee, Florida. The son of Angeline and Peter Delia, Wayne was born on Sunday, April 28, 1946 in Camden, New Jersey. In 1964, he was among 32 members of the first graduating class of Chaminade College Preparatory High School, and went on to attend the University of South Florida.
Wayne married the love of his life, Carol, on January 29, 1984. He owned and managed Delia’s Deli in Miramar, and later managed the deli at Laurenzo’s Italian Market in North Miami Beach for 29 years. A larger than life figure to many of his friends and family members with a warm and inviting laugh, Wayne was quick to smile and would go out of his way to make everyone feel invited and welcome in his home and his business. In addition to being a small business owner, he was an avid sports fan, car enthusiast, and music lover (especially Motown). Above all, Wayne was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, nephew, cousin, and so much more to so many people.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Carol and two children, Heather and Peter; two grandchildren, Nathan and Zachary; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and James; niece and nephew, Kim and James; and a host of other relatives and friends.
