Willene Scipper "Billie" Herndon

Willene Scipper Herndon affectionaly know as Billie, 89, of Tallahassee, Florida, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2013, after a short illness. She passed away with family and friends by her side.

Willene was born August 19, 1923, in Luverne, Alabama to Charles Reid and Lou Scipper. She grew up in Sneads, Florida. She married Woody Herndon in 1943 and moved to Tallahassee where she began work at Rose Printing Company. After a few years she and her husband opened their own business, Woody's Cabinet Shop, where she worked for 40 years. Her hobbies were working in her yard and her flower gardens, fishing and cooking.

Willene is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Delmus Scipper.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Woody Herndon; sister, Merdene Poole of Sneads and several nieces and nephews. Willene was loved by all who knew her.

She was a charter member of Parkway Baptist Church in Tallahassee and currently a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Flowers may be received or the family asks that donations be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory, 2351 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32308.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday June 5, 2013 in the chapel of Culley MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road. Family will receive friends from 10:00 am until the service time. Interment will be in Pope Cemetery at 2:30 PM EST in Sneads.
