

William “Bill” F. O’Meara, 91, beloved husband of the late Norma (Malagodi) died February 17, 2017, at home, after a long and hard fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Norma O’Meara preceded his death on August 23, 2015.
Bill was born on October 20, 1925 in Cambridge, MA to the late William and Evelyn (Roulo) O’Meara and grew up in Quincy and Milton, MA. Bill graduated from Boston College in 1948 with a degree in business. He worked briefly in sales, and soon received a master’s degree in Education while teaching business classes in the Boston area. He was united in holy matrimony to Norma M. Malagodi in West Somerville, MA, in April of 1956. This union was blessed with 6 children. In 1966, he joined Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA as Director of Career Planning & Placement before retiring in 1990. He and Norma raised their family in South Hadley, MA. While residing in South Hadley, Bill and Norma were members of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Bill and Norma moved to Tallahassee, FL in 2003. Bill was a faithful parishioner of Good Shepherd Catholic Church for the last 14 years of his life. He and Norma were founding members of the Tallahassee group of lay Dominicans. Together with his wife, he made many religious pilgrimages around the world to such places as Medjugore, Fatima, Lourdes, Ireland, Italy, and Israel. Bill was known for his white hair, sparkling blue eyes, his warm smile, loving heart, kindness, and gentle and faith-filled spirit.
Bill was a family man. He leaves behind six children and 17 grandchildren; daughter Kathrine and Carl Hubel and son Nathaniel of Pittsburg, PA; son William and Paula O’Meara and children Billy and wife Dana, Kathrine and fiancé Ty Clark, Jessica, Anna, Sean, David, and Connor of Tallahassee, FL; son Sean and Denise O’Meara of Hendersonville, NC; daughter Nina and David Miller and children Scott, Shannon, Holly, Zack and Matt of W. Simsbury, CT; son Daniel O’Meara of Tallahassee, FL; and son Paul O’Meara and children Stephen, Michael, David and Sarah of N. Chelmsford, MA. He is also survived by his two sisters, Beatrice and Walt Heintz of Saratoga, CA, and Jeanne Kirby of San Jose, CA, and his brother Ed and Cally O’Meara of Ipswich, MA and numerous extended family and friends.
A Memorial Mass followed by a reception will take place at 11am on Friday, February 24th, 2017, at Good Shepherd Church, 4665 Thomasville Rd, Tallahassee, FL. The burial will take place at Culley’s MeadowWood Cemetary, 700 Timberlane Rd, Tallahassee, FL following the reception.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Bill’s caregivers. Their loving and compassionate care allowed him to live his life to his fullest at home even with all the physical limitations of PD. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s memory to a charity of your choosing.
