
William C. Zimmerman departed life on April 22, 2020. William ("Bill") Clement Zimmerman was born on September 14, 1946 to Aaron and Betty Zimmerman. He grew up on his father's farm in Pennsylvania, moved to the city of Sunbury, PA then moved to Westfield, MA where he was educated and graduated from American International College, Springfield, MA in 1968. Later he obtained his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) while going to school at night and working full time, from Atlanta Law School, Atlanta, GA.
He entered the Marine Corps and served as an Officer during the Vietnam War Era on active duty, followed by time in the Marine Corps Reserve when he returned to Civilian life.
Bill married Jean Burkhart Zimmerman on May 9, 1970 in Pensacola, FL prior to his departure for an overseas assignment. Together they had two great sons: William C. Zimmerman Jr and Jeffrey Daniel Zimmerman. Jeffrey married Julia Utter and together they had two sons: Theodore Bradley Zimmerman and Charlie Michael Zimmerman.
When Bill returned from overseas he pursued a professional career in the IT field in both private industry and the public sector. For a short obituary, Bill would offer an IT phrase-"You are born, processed, then you die".
HE discovered Soccer and began playing it in his 40's and played until he was in his 60's with the High Meadows Soccer Club in Roswell, GA and later with The Tallahassee Soccer Club in FL as well as with The Adult Soccer Club in Thomasville, GA. He also coached youth soccer teams while living in Freehome, GA for Roswell Recreation League.
Life consisted of family, friends, helping others, and enjoying his grandchildren Ted and Charlie as they grew from birth to wonderful young men.
He considers his greatest achievements in life marrying his wife Jean, his two sons Bill Jr and Dan, his daughter in law, Julia, and the two grandsons, Ted and Charlie. Life is to be enjoyed, family, helping others when and if you can and living a life which sets a good example for the next generations of Americans.
He leaves a wife- Jean, two sons, William Jr and Dan, a daughter-in-law, Julia and two grandsons, Ted and Charlie.
His family consisted of Aaron & Betty,(Mother&Father-both deceased), three Sisters (Betty Lou Foley-Prospect,CT, Sharon Curran-Millersville, MD, Jackie Schwaber-Westfield, MA) all living, one brother, George Zimmerman-Northampton,MA- deceased.
Bill will be interred along side America's Hero's at the Tallahassee National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
