Wilma C. Jones

Wilma C. Jones, 93, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on December 12, 2012, while receiving care at Big Bend Hospice House.

She was born March 17, 1919, in Baxley, Georgia. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and taught children’s Sunday school at Bethpage UMC, Trinity UMC, and St. Paul’s UMC. She owned and operated a beauty shop in Tallahassee for over thirty years and was an avid gardener.

Wilma is survived by her son, Pleas Strickland; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Joyce Strickland; grandchildren, Tim Strickland, Shannon Strickland, Allison Chase and Kristie Strickland; and three great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husbands Horace Strickland and Hiram Jones; a sister, Mable Collins; and a brother Levi Carter.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home, 1737 Riggins Road. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 9:00 am till the service hour on Saturday.
