There are no words to console a parent who has lost a child. But there are the good memories, the pictures, the little do-dads that our kids made for us, and the people who share the pain and the joy with you. We are so lucky to have know Andrew! To Nancy, and Bob, I am loving your boy with you today!

     If I could think of  something brilliant to say that would ease your hearts, I would.  I may have told you this before, sorry if it is a repeat, but when you lose someone you love, it never stops hurting. The only thing that changes is you. And as happy memories slip in during those moments of sadness, you are strong again. 
     I remember all those smiling pictures of Andrew! You brought the goodness of the world to him! And he knows this. In heaven, he is smiling at you, knowing that there is more to his story than we will know. When we join him,  we will know.

I heard this at a loss group that I attend, but I am not sure who the author is. It makes perfect sense to those of us who have experienced  the passing of a loved one. "Loss is like a backpack.  The weight never gets lighter, your back gets stronger." 

I have known Nancy for a million years and love her like a sister. Though I did not know Bob, I do know that he stood by Nancy's side during the joyful 21 years they and Andrew's nurses gave Andrew. In every picture, Andrew is smiling! Those pictures are proof of a rich, deep love, both given and received. 

Though we will always miss his presence, we know that he is nearby in Heaven.  Bless you, Nancy, Bob and Andrew. 

I am  very saddened to hear about the loss of Andrew.  My heart goes out to you and you are in my thoughts and prayers.  I wish I could have met your sweet son.   I know that he had the best parents and that there were no limits to your unconditional love for him.   You have my deepest sympathy.

I was fortunate to be one of Andrew’s many home health nurses. I worked at their home for approximately 2 years caring for Andrew.  I was Blessed to see the unconditional love of Nancy and  Bob towards Andrew.  A love that I have never forgotten these years past. A great example of the love that I have learned to demonstrate to my own children through Nancy and Bob’s example. 
It gives me great peace to know that Andrew is in the loving arms of Our Lord in heaven above

When she decided to retire her only concern was not being able to see you and take care of you.  You were family to us. My mother spoke of you with such love that we loved you too. I was very fortunate to be Andrew’s physical therapist for 3 years. My nickname for him was stud muffin, every time I said it he would smile. Andrew’s smile always lit up the room. He was so sweet!! I will miss you stud muffin!


Nancy and Bob words can not express the sadness that I feel and that is felt by many. Prior to becoming a nurse, I prayed that God would help me to be the best nurse I could be then he blessed me with Andrew and your family. The love and care that both of you provided for Andrew were beyond words. Andrew was so smart and amazing. His smile and his voice would light up my world. Every morning I would come in and it would amaze me that he remembers my voice and the song I made up just for him. We would dance laugh and play with his favorite toys. I made sure that the little things we did would be fun. When Nancy came home from work no matter how tired or how much pain she may be in she made sure to have Andrew sit on her lap. Bob would come in and adorn him with love. Andrew thank you for teaching me what true strength and love looks like. You broke every expectation of doctors and people all around you. I was blessed to be able to be a part of your presence. Sleep in Peace my dearest Andrew love you always!!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Nancy has been my hair stylist and friend for many years.  The true love and joy she had of bringing Andrew into this world and raising him and caring for him truly goes way beyond the normal bond of a mother and child. You are truly exceptional and Andrew felt that every day of his life.
