Biography

Anselm Medora Johnston, 70, of Tamarac, Florida, died on December 14, 2018 at Florida Medical Center surrounded by family.
Anselm was born in Brighton, St Elizabeth, Jamaica on February 17, 1948. She was a graduate of the Shortwood Teachers College and the University of the West Indies (Mona) in Jamaica.
“When you learn teach, when you get give.” Maya Angelou. Anselm was the epitome of this. She was selfless in all she did. As an educator she believed as John Dewey said that “Education is not preparation for life, education is life itself.” Anselm was an educator for almost 52 years and was a VPre K teacher at the Bethlehem Pre School until her death.
She lived her life with resilience and faced adversity with a smile as her faith was firmly anchored in her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth. She lived the Isaiah 40:31 life - "But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
She was selfless, caring and left an indelible mark on all lives that she touched.
She is survived by her husband Elwyn, children: Sasha (Kevin), Stacy (Fabio) and Edson (Nareen), her much loved grandchildren: Husani, Aaliyah, Malik, Nia, Jalen, Nyla-Rene and Joshua; sister Esmilda, brother Roy and other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. December 21, 2018, the thanksgiving service at 1pm Covenant Moravian Church in St. Andrew, Jamaica. Interment at Meadow Rest, St Catherine, Jamaica.
