Arthur Williams was born on April 18, 1940, at Linstead Hospital in St. Catherine, Jamaica, to Louise Hassad and Franklyn George Williams. He passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025, after a brief illness.
Arthur spent his early years in Cashew Walk, St. Catherine, before moving to Hope Bay, Portland to be with family, where he completed his schooling. After he finished third year, he began working with Public Works in St. Mary, where he met the love of his life, Leonie. They later relocated to Kingston and were married on May 11, 1966. Their marriage lasted fifty-five years and was blessed with three children.
Arthur proudly served in the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation Fire Brigade, where he rose to the rank of Sergeant. In 1985, he was awarded the Long Service Medal of Distinction by the Governor-General of Jamaica for his dedicated service. Two years later, in 1987, he migrated to the United States.
Continuing a life of service, Arthur worked in various capacities in the healthcare sector before relocating with his wife to Florida to escape the harsh winters. There, he joined Coca-Cola and eventually retired from the company.
Later in life, Arthur dedicated himself to his faith, becoming a baptized member of Lauderhill Baptist Church where he from time to time participated in the men’s fellowship.
He and his wife shared a love for traveling and enjoyed many cruises together, sometimes joined by family. When Leonie fell gravely ill, Arthur devoted himself fully to caring for her until her passing, a testament to his love and loyalty.
Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leonie; his brother, Rudolph; granddaughter, Chanelle; and grandson, Prince (Akeem). He is survived by his children: Clive Williams, Dwaine (Joan) Williams, Avion (Wayne) Wellington, Auril (Kevin) Moore, and Neil (Melisha) Williams. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Andre, Marquis, Jamari (Alexis), Jade, and Jayden; his siblings, Claudia (Jean) and Patricka (Patsy); along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will cherish his memory.
May his soul rest in peace.
