Chester was born on April 19, 1951, to Gerald Brown and Mildred Bowen-Kellar, who have both preceded him in death. He was a past student of Rusea’s High School and in 1971 graduated from Mico Teachers College, where he earned a certificate in Education. He pursued a short career in this field and held a number of teaching positions, including Principal of Mount Hannah All Age School in Hanover. Mr Brown later joined the Insurance Industry and worked with Life of Jamaica Ltd. from 1975 until he migrated to the United States of America in 1993. While in the US, he worked at the Department of Social Security Administration in different locations until the time of his retirement.
He married Beverly in 2013 – a second marriage and they made their home at Sunrise in Florida where he resided until the time of his passing. He was the patriarch of not only his immediate family but also his extended family.
For those who knew Chester Brown, he was a teacher, a counsellor, and a friend. He was an avid reader, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, and a keen sports man especially in the sport of cricket. He served two terms as President of the Hanover Cricket Association between 1990 and 1992. Chester was a jovial and cheerful person whose presence always left a lasting and memorable memory.
