Clifton was born October 2, 1928, in Montego Bay, Saint James Jamaica W.I., to the late Albertine Clarke and Vincent Grant. As a young man, Clifton knew that he was different and set himself apart by being very focused and got himself motivated to make a good decent life. He migrated to London in 1956 where he spent 3years before returning to Jamaica.
Still determined about his life’s trajectory, he learned the trade as a Mechanic. He was very good at it and soon established his own welding and mechanic business. The love for his children was pure and he took pride and the responsibility of taking care of them very seriously. He wanted to make sure that he provided for them and that they lacked nothing. At the same time, being quite a disciplinarian. He ran a tight ship.
He soon found that he needed to make another move and migrated to the United States in the mid 1960’s, the height of the Civil Uprising. He worked very hard and fought through many obstacles. He served his community well and was called ‘BENEFIT’ by many who knew him. People knew that they could count on him to help out in whatever way that he could. He loved politics and kept up with current affairs and almost never missed the news.
Clifton, loved to cook and bake. The smell of his creations in the kitchen would greet you as you entered his house and would have your mouth salivating for a quick taste. He loved his food and especially juicy succulent cow foot.
He was a very light hearted man and you could not help but love him after meeting him. He would always leave you with an indelible impression by his jovial, pleasant spirit. He would always for sure make you laugh at something funny and it was just off the cuff not planned.
